These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a legally binding agreement between you and Xlane ("Xlane", "we", "us") governing your access to and use of the Xlane platform, including the website at xlane.app and the Xlane mobile applications (together, the "Service").
By creating an account, signing in, or otherwise using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.
Xlane is a peer-to-peer matching platform that connects individuals who have compatible currency exchange needs ("Users"), and independent agents who facilitate in-person exchanges ("Agents").
Xlane does not convert, hold, transmit, or take custody of any currency or funds. We are not a bank, money transmitter, payment institution, foreign exchange dealer, or financial adviser. We do not set or guarantee exchange rates, and we are never a party to any trade between Users.
All exchanges are arranged and completed directly between Users and Agents. Any agreement to exchange currency is solely between the parties involved.
You must be at least 18 years old and capable of forming a binding contract to use the Service. You may hold only one account, must provide accurate and current information, and must keep your credentials confidential.
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at the contact address below if you suspect unauthorised access.
To transact on the platform you must complete identity verification (KYC), which may include a government-issued ID, a selfie, and proof of address. We may refuse, suspend, or revoke access if verification fails, expires, or raises compliance concerns.
You agree that the identity you verify is your own and that you will not transact on behalf of undisclosed third parties.
The Service helps Users and Agents discover each other, agree indicative terms, and coordinate a meeting. The actual exchange of currency happens directly between the parties, outside the platform.
You are solely responsible for verifying the currency you receive before handing over your own. Always meet in a public place, follow the safety guidance in the app, and never send funds in advance or share one-time codes with anyone.
Xlane does not guarantee that any match, rate, or trade will be completed, and is not responsible for the acts or omissions of any User or Agent.
You agree not to use the Service to: violate any law or regulation, including anti-money-laundering, counter-terrorist-financing, sanctions, tax, or currency-control laws; defraud, deceive, or exploit other users; transact on behalf of third parties or structured transactions designed to evade reporting; create fake accounts or manipulate ratings; interfere with the platform's security or operation; or harass, threaten, or harm others.
We may report suspected illegal activity to the relevant authorities and cooperate with lawful requests.
Exchange rates shown in the Service are indicative and informational only. They may differ from the rate agreed between the parties to a trade. Xlane provides no financial, investment, legal, or tax advice.
We may suspend or terminate your access at any time if you breach these Terms, fail verification, create risk for other users, or where required by law. You may close your account at any time by contacting support.
Termination does not affect rights or obligations arising from trades already arranged.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any User or Agent is trustworthy — verification reduces risk but does not eliminate it.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Xlane is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of funds, profits, data, or goodwill arising from or related to your use of the Service or any trade between Users and Agents.
Because Xlane never holds or transmits funds, all risk of loss in a trade rests with the parties to that trade. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud.
You agree to indemnify and hold Xlane harmless from any claims, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms, your violation of any law, or your trades with other Users or Agents.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified through the Service or by email. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence provide otherwise.
